Director of Insights
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Insights is responsible for owning greater:SATX’s data, analytics, and insights capability, serving as both the technical authority for the organization’s data center of excellence and the primary translator of complex analysis into clear, actionable insights.
This role designs, builds, and evolves the organization’s data and analytics stack, develops sophisticated analyses and forecasts, and ensures insights are framed in ways that inform business decisions, strategy, and marketing direction. The Director of Insights partners closely with executive leadership and the VP of Marketing & Insights to ensure data-driven insights can be translated into business action, marketing materials, investor communications, and regional storytelling.
This is a hands-on role during a critical phase of data maturity. While the Director provides technical and analytical leadership to others, this position is expected to personally develop complex analyses and own the integrity, structure, and usability of the organization’s analytics ecosystem.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Insights
• Own the design, evolution, and integrity of greater:SATX’s data center of excellence, including data architecture, ETL pipelines, data warehouse, analytics platforms, and visualization tools.
• Serve as the organization’s primary authority on data structure, analytical methods, and technical feasibility.
• Establish and maintain analytical standards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, scalability, and reliability.
• Make and manage technical decisions related to analytics tooling and data workflows, keeping executive leadership out of day-to-day technical ownership.
• Personally develop and maintain complex analyses, forecasting models, and analytical frameworks to support strategy, planning, and performance evaluation.
• Conduct advanced analysis across operational, financial, workforce, industry, and performance data.
• Develop scenario-based models and forward-looking analyses to inform decision-making and risk assessment.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights that inform business strategy, operational decisions, and marketing direction.
• Serve as a key analytical partner to the VP of Marketing & Insights by providing data-driven perspectives that can be translated into business action, marketing materials, investor communications, and regional narratives.
• Distill technical analysis, forecasts, and models into digestible narratives, visuals, and recommendations appropriate for executive leadership and non-technical audiences.
• Ensure insights are framed around implications, opportunities, risks, and recommended actions rather than solely data or methodology.
• Provide executive leadership with decision-ready insights that inform prioritization, tradeoffs, and strategic direction.
• Support organizational planning, goal setting, and performance management with data-driven analysis.
• Provide technical and analytical leadership to the Insights & Enterprise Systems function, including mentoring team members and strengthening analytical capability over time.
• Guide the development of enterprise reporting and self-service analytics while retaining ownership of advanced analytical work.
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure analytics support business needs while maintaining methodological discipline.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• Seven or more years of progressive experience in analytics, data science, or business intelligence, or five or more years of experience supplemented by an advanced degree in data analytics, data science, economics, or a related field, with strong hands-on technical capability.
• Deep experience building and owning analytics solutions, including ETL, data modeling, forecasting, and analytics platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex, technical analysis into clear, compelling insights that drive decision-making and can be readily adapted for business and marketing use.
• Strong analytical judgment and ability to frame insights around implications and action.
• Experience mentoring analysts or leading analytical workstreams preferred but not required.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred in data analytics, data science, economics, business analytics, or a related field.

Work Environment:
This is a flexible work environment which includes both in-office attendance and the ability to work from home as business needs allow. This role requires significant time in the office or attending in-person meetings. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, and multi-functioning printer. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours work/travel may be required.
